Theo is the exact reason why I coach. He is one of my many heroes and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Most people in Theo’s position make excuses to continue eating bad and not working out. Not Theo! Theo decided to change his life not only for him but to be an example for his younger brother. I wish I could put Theo’s determination in a pill and force feed it to those that call me and say I don’t have time, I’m too big, I can’t afford to eat healthy, and on and on. Theo is the true definition of a Hero and he is killing P90X! He takes one day at a time and pushes play every day. And don’t for a second think he is done. He is wrapping up his 2nd round of P90X then doing his 3rd round in the “Fall P90X Challenge”.
“I was overweight my whole life and didn’t feel the need to work out even when I hit my biggest weight at 360 lbs and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes being told that if I didn’t lose weight that I could lose my feet or die, none of that for some reason seemed to make me want to change.
It wasn’t until I looked at my younger brother who was always the skinny one in the family start to gain a lot of weight. That made me think of how horrible it felt to be diabetic and have others ridicule you especially in high school where kids can be harsh. I didn’t want my brother to go through that and I knew the only way he would make a change is if I made the change also. So I begged my mom to scrape some money together and get P90X because we can’t continue to live the way we’ve been living and ever since my brother and I got it we’ve been working hard and eating healthy non stop.
I have lost 60 lbs to date but my brother works harder than I do for sure because he’s in 8th grade and I know it must be hard seeing every kid around you eating pizza and fried chicken not having to care about their nutrition, but he’s stuck with and has gone from 250 lbs to 218, I’m so proud of him and the best part is we are going on this journey together.
I’m far from reaching my goal but I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished so far and now I feel proud to look at myself in the mirror everyday. P90X for life and soon after Insanity will be next. I will continue to bring it!
Keep bringing it my brother! All of us at teamDETERMINATION couldn’t be more proud to have you on the team!!!
